Magul Maha Viharaya is located by the Lahugla National Sanctuary in the Ampara District. Even Though most people believe that Princess Vihara Maha Devi (mother of king Dutugemunu) reach Kirinda, there are many evidence that real place is Muhudu Maha Viharaya in Pottuvil. Magul maha Vihara complex extents towards large area and you can see many historical constructions belonging to 2nd century BC. At the entrance you can see large ponds constructed for the usage of monastery monks.
